Only fully qualified Registered Members MSGD and FSGD of the society are listed on the Designer Search, and you can search for designers working in your COUNTY, NATIONALLY or OVERSEAS.
Members are required to abide by the Code of Professional Conduct and Good Practice, a statement of principles designed to protect the interests of client and Member alike. Registered Members MSGD and FSGD have passed the SGD accreditation and appraisal process. They are experienced designers who are trained to draw on skills that include:
- sound horticultural knowledge
- an understanding of ecology, conservation and maintenance
- an ability to analyse the garden
- to effectively interpret the hopes and wishes of the client
- visual and spatial skills
- imaginative and creative impulse to transform and unify a site, from the smallest private enclave to the most public open space.
Services offered:
All registered members can provide a professional design service and in addition some may offer specialist skills. They can advise on:
- Complete garden designs
- Cost estimates for agreed work
- Planting design
- Hard landscape design
- Specialist elements such as water features, lighting, and garden furniture
- Obtaining tender prices for works, nominating contractors and monitoring all works to completion
- Maintenance schedule and advice
- Other specific skills may include historic garden restoration, public spaces or school grounds
