REGISTERED MEMBERSHIP

 

 

The Society of Garden Designers is committed to high standards of professional practice.   It actively encourages its members in their efforts to raise and maintain these standards in garden design. 

 

The SGD believes it is crucial to uphold and preserve high standards of assessment if the Society is to maintain its professional integrity in the eyes of the public and peers in related disciplines.

 

 

The SGD operates a three stage process leading to Registered Membership:

The Society of Garden Designers Registered Membership

Stage 1 - Registration Starts Here (RSH): a  non compulsory introductory workshop providing useful information on standards required and preparations needed for adjudication. 

 

Stage 2 - Project Appraisal: Pre Registered members (only) have up to two projects discussed  in a supportive and encouraging environment and are given guidance on attaining required standards and timing of application for adjudication. Work presented is not graded.   Attending a Project Appraisal is not compulsory but strongly recommended.         2012 Dates & venues          Application Form

 

Stage 3 - Adjudication: a qualifying assessment of candidates’ professionalism for Registered Membership.     Candidates are passed, deferred for further work or failed.   There is no grading of candidates

Main conditions of entry to Registered Membership:

To become a Registered Member, candidates should ensure they have a well rounded body of work to present at adjudication. The work needs to demonstrate a mature and experienced approach to solving a variety of design problems
