Course Tutor: John Wood

This course is aimed at participants who have basic SketchUp experience and who are confident with all of the content covered in the Beginner level course. This course will cover:

  • 3D modelling of more complex structures such as arched pergolas and other more complex garden elements in bespoke design
  • Creation of plants for use in SketchUp from one’s own photos and the internet
  • Creating a personalised library of plants and textures
  • Planting techniques in the 3D working model
  • Planting plans in SketchUp
  • Time will also be devoted to learning skills to improve design imagery, including looking at customising one’s own textures from photographs and other sources for use in 3D modelling.

All courses will be recorded and so there is no requirement to take notes during the sessions as all

All courses will be recorded and so there is no requirement to take notes during the sessions as all recordings will be made available to course participants after the event.

Supplementary teaching support will be provided to course participants in the form of short, explanatory videos backing up the material covered on the course.

Teaching will be by real-time demonstration with plenty of time made available for questions.

The course tutor will be demonstrating on SketchUp Pro 2019. There is a free version of SketchUp available online. Although this works pretty well, the interface is very different from the Pro version and so will be difficult to relate to the course content. Good news, however, is that SketchUp Pro offers a  30 day free trial and so participants would be best advised to sign up to this just prior to the course start date, so as to be able to take full advantage of the 30 day offer and to be able to practice topics covered on the course in their own time.
