Amanda has been designing gardens for over two decades, winning recognition for her work at RHS Chelsea and scooping several major industry awards. With a background in fine art and illustration, and a love for maths, she creates gardens that are strongly structural and yet painterly in their planting. Finding inspiration from both art and nature, she is fascinated by contrasts in tone and the subtleties of light throughout the seasons; and uses colour and a manipulation of light to create mood and atmosphere. She is particularly interested in how we use space intuitively, how gardens create context for buildings and how a garden makes us feel; and uses the principles and elements of art to reinforce her concepts.
