SGD Symposium 2022
Thursday 9th & Friday 10th June
RHS Hilltop Building - RHS Garden Wisley, Wisley Lane, WOKING, GU23 6QB
PAST - PRESENT - FUTURE: Finding answers to the way forward from our past.

As the SGD celebrates 40 years of garden and landscape design, this two-day symposium (Single or Two day tickets available) held at the new Hilltop Building, RHS Garden Wisley, will examine the past, cast a critical eye on current practice, and propose new ways of working together to address the rapidly changing demands of people and planet to help develop an industry leading approach to sustainable garden design.
Aimed at helping the industry work collaboratively to forge plans for a responsible, creative, relevant and rewarding future in the way we practice, a line-up of some of the UK's most influential garden and landscape designers working in sustainable and ecological design will share their knowledge and expertise in an unmissable mix of talks, panel debates and round-table discussions.
Confirmed keynote speakers include Dan Pearson OBE FSGD, Bernard Trainor, Charlie Harpur, Rachel Bailey MSGD, Dr. Phil Askew and Marian Boswall MSGD.
Other highly acclaimed speakers, including Sarah Eberle FSGD, Advolly Richmond, David Stevens FSGD, Tom Massey MSGD, Jo Gibbons, Noel Kingsbury, Catherine Heatherington FSGD and Giacomo Guzzon, will be staging a series of lively panel debates.

Given the significance of the environmental issues being discussed at the Symposium, the SGD has implemented a no-fly policy for the event. Bernard Trainor will be speaking live from one of his gardens in California and Noel Kingsbury will be speaking live from his home in Portugal.
Delegates will also be encouraged to share their own thoughts and expertise in daily round-table discussions, drawing together the threads that will be contributing to a new SGD Manifesto which will form a blueprint for the way we practice in the future. The discussions will be headed by SGD Vice-Chair Andrew Duff MSGD, who will also be co-chairing the event.
Included in the ticket price is a networking evening on the Thursday night with buffet dinner. From 5pm until 11pm, delegates will get the opportunity to enjoy drinks at the bar and network with delegates and exhibitors alike within the stunning gardens of RHS Wisley.
