Borde Hill unveils Planthunters’ garden

A new space has been opened at the garden’s Round Dell

Sophie Walker’s modern design for the Round Dell at Borde Hill has been unveiled to mark the garden’s 125th anniversary.

Andrewjohn and Eleni Stephenson Clarke commissioned Walker to create an exciting and thought-provoking space that would combine exotic palms and plants – sent to their ancestor, Colonel Stephenson R Clarke, by early 20th-century plant hunters – with exciting and unusual new species.

Walker’s minimalist design features a single, arrow-shaped path slicing through the space and leading to a pool fed by a waterfall.
