Gardener & Design Assistant

Are you a passionate gardener with design skills looking for a new and interesting opportunity? We are a bespoke
design and build practice, specialising in the creation of stunning high-end gardens and landscapes to discerning
clients, with a particular focus on outstanding soft landscaping schemes.

We are now looking for the right person to join our small and dynamic team as an assistant designer and skilled
gardener, with a view to aiding the design and aftercare of our projects, striving towards horticultural excellence.

We would consider reduced hours or flexible working with this position, with a view to becoming permanent as the role
develops. Responsibilities would include assistance with planting plans and construction drawings using Vectorworks
and the aftercare and subsequent development of the planting schemes in selected portfolio gardens based around
Chichester, West Sussex.

The ideal applicant will be a plants person, with strong horticultural knowledge and a passionate for all things gardening.
A horticultural or garden design qualification is required and/or extensive experience working in a diverse garden would
be desirable for the role.

The successful applicant will be self-motivated, organised, confident and enjoy working both as part of a small team or
alone dependent upon the work in hand.

Experience with working with a wide range of species from top and soft fruit, pleached, espaliered and trained trees,
topiary, roses, shrubs, perennials, bulbs, grasses etc. is required for the role.

Requirements:
• Hold a recognised horticultural or garden design qualification and have demonstrable knowledge.
• Excellent plant knowledge
• A love of gardens, gardening and being outdoors.
• Outstanding attention to detail.
• Demonstrate passion and enthusiasm for their subject in both customer facing and supervisory situations.
• Confident working alone and with others in a supervisory capacity.
• Experience with a wide range of garden tools and basic garden machinery.
• Fit and able to complete physical work.
• Must be practical and capable of carrying out wide range of tasks to a consistently high standard.
• Must be eligible to work in the UK.
• Full, clean UK driving licence.
• Be based within a commutable distance of Chichester, West Sussex.
