Why Use a Member of the SGD?
When you choose to work with a Member of the SGD, you can be certain that you and your garden are in safe and capable hands. All of the Registered Members listed on this website have been assessed by the SGD adjudication committee and abide by our Code of Conduct, meaning they are experienced accredited designers who subscribe to the highest professional standards, and have committed to continual development of their knowledge and skills.
EQUALITY, DIVERSITY, AND THE SGD
The SGD aims to be an inclusive Society to any Professional Garden Designer wanting to join and progress their career. Adherence to the 2010 Equality and Diversity Act is taken seriously and is part of the SGD Code of Professional Conduct. Breaches or complaints of discrimination against the 9 Protected Characteristics, which include race, gender, and sexuality, are taken seriously. The SGD are taking action to review how accessible both the Society and the garden design industry as a whole are to all individuals. This includes a member survey, discussing with Educators accessibility to courses and career progression, and looking into how socially entrenched attitudes may create barriers to participation.
